Fargo Force take sole possession of 2nd in West

The Fargo Force were able to squeak out a win in Sioux Falls tonight by defeating the herd 6-5.  With the win, the Force take over sole possession of 2nd place in the West Division of the USHL.

Fargo got goals from six different players in the win.  Colten St. Clair started things off in the first period on a power play goal from Corey Leivermann and Eamonn McDermott.  Sioux Falls answered about four minutes later to make it 1-1.  John Stampohar netted his first goal for the Force assisted by Oleg Yevenko.  Garrett Allen would make it 3-1 before the end of the first period on the power play.  Eamonn McDermott and Nick Oliver picked up assists on the goal.

The Force started early in the 2nd period by making it 4-1 on a goal from Nate Schmidt assisted by Garrett Allen and Matt Leitner.  Nick Romanick scored his first goal of his USHL career to make it 5-1 with assists from Corey Leivermann and Grant Scott.

Like any great team, Sioux Falls proved to be resilient and scored midway through the second period to make it 5-2 on the power play.  Sioux Falls continued their comeback in the third period with a power play goal 2:45 into the final stanza and another goal to make it 5-4 five minutes later.

Nick Oliver extended Fargo's lead to 6-4 and the insurance marker would prove to be important as the herd was able to pop one more goal in with the empty net to make it 6-5 before the final buzzer sounded with the Force winning the game and claiming 2nd place in the West Division.

The game tonight in Sioux falls was a blast... I really frowned upon the arena they have... I though it was great that the force fans were a lot louder than all the SF fans... we are very fortunate to have the nice arena and a crowd that actually gets into the game... it was well worth the 250 mile drive... its great we are now in second place and not tied... we know we can play with the best of the best and its great to see the force playing as well as they are... lets get another win on Tuesday...

I hear the sightlines aren't very good at the Sioux Falls arena. Pleasantly surprised to hear you say the Force fans were louder than the "Herd" fans.
