Force lose in a shootout
Anderson Cup, Fargo Force, Green Bay Gamblers, Matt Leitner, Omaha Lancers, Ryan Massa, Sioux Falls StampedeThe Force are pretty much locked into the 2nd spot in the West Division and will probably take on the Sioux Falls Stampede in their first round of the Clark Cup playoffs. In order to get first place in the West Division, Omaha would have to lose their remaining two games and the Force would have to win their remaining three games. With one more win, the Force will clinch home ice advantage for the first round playoff series with Sioux Falls.

Ryan Furne tied the game with under two minutes remaining in regulation and Ludwig Karlsson was the only player to score in the shootout to help the Green Bay Gamblers clinch the Anderson Cup for the second straight season as regular season champions. Karlsson also scored in regulation and defenseman David Makowski netted his 18th goal of the season for the Gamblers. Goaltender Ryan McKay made just 17 saves but turned away all five Fargo shootout attempts to seal the win. Matt Leitner scored two goals for the Force and goaltender Ryan Massa made 40 saves in the loss.
Force Force sweep Phantoms
Anderson Cup, Chase Grant, Clark Cup Finals, Colten St. Clair, Fargo Force, Matt LeitnerThe Fargo Force swept the Youngstown Phantoms at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio. The Force are now only four points out of first place in the West Division and four points away from having the best record in the USHL.
On Friday, the Fargo Force were led by Chase Grant with one goal and an assist and Colten St. Clair with two assists. The Force also got offensive contributions from: Garrett Allen (1g), Nick Oliver (1a), Matt Leitner (1a), Corey Leivermann (1g), Nate Condon (1g), Chad Demers (1a), Johnnie Searfoss (1a). Ryan Massa stopped 24 of 26 in the 4-2 victory.
On Saturday, the Force were led by Matt Leitner with a goal and an assist. Garrett Allen and John Stampohar also scored for the Force. Also assisting on the Fargo Force goals were: Chase Grant, Colten St. Clair, Eamonn McDermott, Corey Leivermann and Blake Doerring. Ryan Massa stopped 22 of 24 in the 3-2 victory.
It may be too early to say this because they have a long way to go, but the Anderson Cup is looking like it could be a serious possibility for the Fargo Force this year. The Anderson Cup is the trophy awarded to the top team in the regular season. Of course the ultimate goal for the Fargo Force is the Clark Cup awarded to the winner of the championship game in the USHL.
